Yangon – Crocodile farm – Botahtaung Pagoda – Bogyoke Aung San Market – Shwedagon – Yangon (By car) (-/-/-) |
Our professional guide will pick you up from your hotel located at 08:30 am and explore the crocodile farm in Tharkayta.
The Thaketa Crocodile Farm boasts a huge range of crocodiles up to 5m in length. Elsewhere, the caretakers will let you hold baby crocodiles and give demonstrations including putting their head in the mouth of a crocodile.
A walkway leads over the main ‘lake’, less than a meter above more than 100 crocs.
Visit one of the goldsmith’s workshop.
A goldsmith is a metalworker who specializes in working with gold and other precious metals. Historically, goldsmiths also have made silverware, platters, goblets, decorative and serviceable utensils, ceremonial or religious items, and rarely using Kintsugi, but the rising prices of precious metals have curtailed the making of such items to a large degree.
Visit Botahtaung Pagoda, one of significant temple-type pagodas in Yangon which houses a sacred hair relic of the Buddha.
Botahtaung Pagoda is a famous pagoda located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar, near the Yangon river. It was first built by the Mon around the same time as was Shwedagon Pagoda—according to local belief, over 2500 years ago, and was known as Kyaik-de-att in Mon language. It is hollow within, and houses what is believed to be a sacred hair of Gautama Buddha.
Proceed to Bogyoke Aung San Market (Scott Market) the famous two-storey market that sells typical traditional Myanmar crafts. (closed on every Monday & public holidays!!)
In the evening, enjoy the sunset at the Shwedagon Pagoda; the world famous glittering gold stupa, believed to have been built more than 2500 year ago.
Shwedagon Pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar, as it is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present kalpa. These relics include the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Koṇāgamana, a piece of the robe of Kassapa, and eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama.
Transfer to your hotel and finish your tour at 05:30 pm.
